The latest Edison Research Podcast Metrics for the UK have just been published with a top 25 based on reach during Q1 2024.

This follows previous releases for Q4 2024, Q3 2024 and Q2 2024.

The top four titles are unchanged compared to last quarter.

But here’s the list again with all the current Top 25 titles’ history in this chart.

Saving Grace is the big climber this quarter. Edison Research notes that the show had a sell-out tour in February. ShxtsNGigs is in the top ten too, and they’re currently on a US Tour having previously held a gig last month at the O2 in London.

The highest new entry is The Chunks & Filly Show at number 10.

The other new entries are What’s Good with Miniminter and Randolph and Staying Relevant which marks the first entry for Bauer Media (with Insanity Studios) into the top 25.

Elsewhere, there’s a bit of rejuggling. The News Agents overtakes Newscast this quarter. The Rest is Football takes a bit of a fall from a lofty #8 last quarter to #19. Uncanny dips, although there basically weren’t any new episodes in this quarter. The Daily comes back into the chart, while Crime Junkie and Impaulsive with Logan Paul both leave the chart.

A reminder than the top 3 podcasts in the equivalent US chart also measured by Edison Research are The Joe Rogan Experience, Crime Junkie and The Daily.

That means that comparing the Top 50 US podcasts with the Top 25 UK titles, only two titles overlap both charts – The Joe Rogan Experience and The Daily. That’s really interesting and means that UK podcast listening world is mostly its own thing. It does feel that the titles reflect things that adhere to British listeners’ sense of humour and social relevance.

That said, I would also caution that with titles below the top 3/4 jumping around quite a lot quarter-on-quarter, there is still likely to be a very large pool of podcasts just outside this list that could, at any time, enter the Top 25. In other words, there are many podcast titles that are probably doing very similar numbers, and a sample of this size (2198 online interviews in this quarter), can only measure them to a certain degree.
